Dove: Patches

Beauty is a state of mind! Seems simple enough to understand but if we really try to comprehend this statement, we find that though we may agree with it, we may not always follow it.

As women we are expected to be 'beautiful'. Expected to be beautiful! Since there seems to be a ridiculous notion that 'beautiful' is a certain criteria. It's a certain age. A certain size. A certain colour. And we are expected to follow those norms. According to a study*, 80% of women feel hesitant to share the way they look. How is that even acceptable? How is it that women feel that they have to fit in to a certain norm to be truly beautiful?

As a fashion blogger, I will always look for that one aspect that is different. Because for me beauty isn't a norm. Beauty is being unique, it's about being flawed and unapologetic. Beauty is being confident. Beauty is everything and anything that makes YOU happy.

Recently, I was invited to an event by Dove for the reveal of their short film, Dove: Patches that proves that beauty really is a state of mind. The film clearly shows how low self esteem effects our lives and relationships. The eye-opening documentary makes us realise that we are beautiful in our own individuality. We understand the importance of self acceptance and that at the end of the day what makes us beautiful is nothing but ourselves!

Dove Intense Repair- Blogger Event

This week, I  was invited to an event held by Dove for the launch of their new product, Dove Intense Repair at the Raintree Salon and Spa. It was a super fun event, where I got to meet other bloggers and we played fun games and learnt about how our hair gets damaged and ways to protect it.

So what did I learn? Turns out our hair is made up of a substance called Keratin, which is basically a kind of protein. The more Keratin our hair has, the healthier and less damage prone our hair is likely to become. Also, blowdrying, straightening, perms etc. aren't the only things that damage our hair. Environmental effects (Karachi's pollution is a major problem), over-brushing, sun exposure and constantly being in air-conditioned rooms are all causes of hair damage.

Here's where Dove Intense Repair comes in. This range contains ¼ moisture milk and Keratin Actives that go deep within strands to reconstruct hair by strengthening it at its core. Thus, transforming dull and damaged hair into shiny and smooth hair.

I can't wait to try this range. Hopefully, another winner by Dove!

And here's the fun part; Dove is giving out free samples to it's fans for a limited period of time. Check out the following link, to get a chance to win one: Dove Free Sample Request

Product Review: Dove Hair Fall Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner

As I mentioned earlier, Dove recently sent me their new Hair Fall Rescue range to review. This is a two week treatment that claims to treat hair fall and strengthen roots. So each time I use one of the products, I’m going to try and update you guys!

Firstly, let me tell you guys a little bit about my hair (Warning: Today’s post may seem a bit self-obsessed). Typically, my hair is dry and I do feel that when I’m stressed or skipping out on meals my hair tend to fall. I also don’t spend much time styling my hair and prefer to leave them down naturally. That’s why it’s really important for me to keep my hair looking thick and healthy.

So I started the treatment with the Dove Hair Fall Rescue shampoo and conditioner. Usually I don’t use conditioners as much because I feel like they make my hair too heavy and flat. But I didn’t experience that at all this time. I am also, IN LOVE with the shampoo. I love how my hair gets after I use it. It just feels super healthy and voluminous.

I first used the shampoo and conditioner last Sunday and since then have used the shampoo every alternate day (I plan on using the conditioner only once a week). I can’t say whether my hair fall has decreased or not, since that’s something I can probably only decide after two weeks, after using all their products. But my hair definitely feels a lot healthier and less temperamental now! Also, best way you know something’s working is if you’ve been receiving compliments, which has definitely been happening!
